Open to the Public
20 January-8 February 2018
Redchurch Café + Gallery is pleased to present its first exhibition of 2018 featuring one of our talented team members Samuel Tomlinson. You may know Sam as the charming barista at the front of the café, however if you don’t know Sam by now, we are hoping you will take the time to explore the first exhibition of his career in the gallery of photography entitled “Modern Vintages,” displaying photography in small – medium format, that have been taken over the last two years in New York and Hamilton. The works are all part of a series of photographs that have been curated by Sam and sold as prints.
Sam began taking his passion for photography seriously when his Grandfather gave him a camera after he was finishing his first year at school in New York. This gave him the opportunity to start documenting some of his experiences through the camera lens. Some of the shots are personal and others are capturing a moment of time but the way they are produced reflect a deeper passion that Sam shares for film and cinematography. Obsessed with films, you can always count on Sam to know and be looking for the next best thing to watch, especially when it comes to Christopher Nolan, Roger Deakinism, Coen brothers film and more.
The same rings true with his personal exploration of the camera as he developed new shots, it is obvious he was influenced by the artist eye of cinematographers and channelled that appreciation into his photos by capturing moments that felt were like stills from an old film that he would watch and share with others.
The exhibition is open to the public 20 January 2018 and will run until 8 February 2018..
